Yes, you are right. We even have subs that do strictly P.E. classes due to the activity. Having good community support helps with how many quality substitutes are available. We are lucky.

    Re: Question, Hopefully Help

I was a substitute at Coeburn HS on and off while in college until I graduated from UVA-Wise. Good money for the little time you spend there with the block scheduling like they have at the High Schools you get lunch plus an hour and half to do whatever. I just sat behind the desk gave the students the assignments the teacher left and made sure it was completed and everyone was relatively quiet, I usually did my homework during that time or read books.

Hopefully after Kylar gets here and I'm released to go back to work I'm going to sub a few days a week just to pull in some extra cash plus I won't have to be away from the baby much which works out perfect for me until I finish up my teaching license requirements and can get a full-time teaching job.

I may be wrong but don't substitutes with degrees (BA, BS) get 90 a day to sub? and everyone else like 65-70? It's def. worth checking into I was usually able to work at least 2 days a week and that was only b/c I wanted to stay at Coeburn either the High School or Middle School. You're not on your feet much at all.

To be honest I am not sure aobut the pay for sub's with degrees. I will check on it and get back to you.

I never said all of them did. I said it is not expected of them to stand in front of the class and teach the whole team. Teachers are required to stand in front of the class and teach, not subs.

    Re: Question, Hopefully Help

I also did subbing while in college. In Wise county it's a great part-time job. But then again I wasn't being particular about the type of job I had and I wasn't doing it to "make a living" per se.

My sister in NC subs in Alamance County and they certainly keep her hopping.
    You'll shoot your eye out.
